Bentley Royce is a teenage reality star. Her family's show, Rolling with the Royces, is facing cancellation. She's not so sure whether she wants the show to stay or go--she has dreams of other things, like college or her crush, Asa. The book is witty and smartly-written, and there's a couple nice twists in there.

It's fast-paced, snappy, and satirical. I highly recommend buying it.

I really enjoyed this story, despite or (because of) my innate cynicism about modern reality TV. A Kardashian-esque family is the center of this story, and they manage to be absolutely fake and absolutely real at the same time. The main character's irritation with the whole fame-for-the-sake-of-fame scheme plays well to readers like me. She is dark and witty, and quickly became the trusted voice of reason in her mother and sister's insane last grab for fifteen more minutes of fame. There are plenty of twists and unexpected turns, and the opening lines set up a nice mystery that is engaging to unravel. There is also plenty of glam for those who want it, but beneath the clothes and makeup, there is some depth. I will say that things felt a little overproduced in the end, with a rather far fetched resolution, but it is an acceptable ending in a TV world where anything goes. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I think my high school students will as well, so I'm adding it to my classroom library wishlist. Language and situations are appropriate for grades 9+. I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I was expecting a fluffy romp that pokes fun at Hollywood. What I got was a deep story of a family and their issues, with a LOT of deconstruction of what "reality" means for the people who are payed to portray it. The lives of the Royce family are interesting, and I found it so easy to empathize with the family, despite all the shenanigans they do.
Bentley is a sarcastic and very self-aware heroine, and hearing the story from her perspective is a delight. She hates the industry and that she's been on display for the world to see ever since her preteen years. But she loves her family, despite the fact that her mother is the one pushing the hardest to show the world every dirty secret and experience the family has.
And the ending is amazing. So many pieces come full circle, and I was absolutely floored with where these characters ended their stories.
A definite recommendation from me. I had a great time with this look into Hollywood reality. I laughed out loud and I thought about how I consume that form of media.
Even though I don't care for reality tv, I was intrigued by this premise, especially with Margie's background. For me, this was a mess.

All of the characters are horrible. I get that they're "characters", but I couldn't find anything redeemable in any of them. Bentley had promise, yet I still struggled to root for her.

The format was odd. There are loads of footnotes {that I'm still not entirely sure wtf they were for}, press releases, Twitter updates, and storylines inside storylines. There were a few sparks that engaged me and got me to continue, but I was mostly trying to keep from DNFing. I'm only rating it 2 stars because I finished it for some reason.

Overall, I can see that this will appeal to some readers, but it wasn't for me.

Royce Rolls is a young adult humorous contemporary by Margaret Stohl. I loved this book. I found it to be hilarious. It is no secret that I am a HUGE reality tv show junkie. I watch all of it…the good, the bad and the plain old trashy. I love it. And I loved Royce Rolls because it took all of the aspects of reality tv…from the filming and production, to the impact that being a reality tv “star” has on your life, to all of the absurd moments. It all worked for me. This book is pure guilty pleasure fun. Now, I will admit that if you find the whole idea of reality tv awful, and you can’t stand to even think about it…this is probably not going to be the book for you. You might find it superficial and gratuitous, and unnecessarily dramatic…which it is. But to be fair, those are some of the things I love most about reality tv. I found Royce Rolls to be a great time. I loved this book.

Royce Rolls was a blast for me to read about. I loved everything about the set up of the book. I loved the over the top characters, I loved the meddling from production, I loved the footnotes. It all worked for me. I think this book will appeal to a very specific reader. I think you will either love it, like I did, or it will be a complete miss for you. If you like reality tv, this is going to be a hoot and a half for you to read.

I loved Bentley, the main character. I thought she was likable and sweet. She was really easy to root for. I didn’t love all of the characters as much as I loved her, but overall I felt like it was a good ensemble. The real winner with Royce Rolls for me was the writing. I loved all the witty dialogue and the seriously hilarious moments. I thought this was an accurate representation of the reality tv aspect of our society today. Honestly, it felt very on point for me. I also liked that I felt like I was getting a behind the scenes looks at Hollywood and production, which is always really fun.

Bottom line If you haven’t noticed by now, my theme for this book is fun. Royce Rolls is a really fun read. I think fans of reality tv will enjoy this over the top family, crazy moments and funny dialogue. I had a blast reading Royce Rolls. It was just as much a guilty pleasure as reality tv itself.

This book was very boring. It's was not what I was expecting it to be.
Over all, it's a great book a really good one and clever one ! I would never have seen where this book was headed. With that being said, it was hard for me to get through 50% of the book. But after having finished it, it is worth it. It's amazing in an overall picture. I loved it and it's worth the read.
